| So I know I haven't updated my europe adventure like I promised and I have been here for about two months now. So if this is long winded remember...its been a while, so lets begin.
I got to Edinburgh, Scotland on the 7th of Sept. Beautiful city full of castles, birth of Harry Potter (went to the cafe that JK wrote the first book), bagpipes, and witch hunt history. I lost my bags for a couple days and walked around Edinburgh in grey yoga pants and moccasins...pretty stylish eh? Rose and I bought our first pint for lunch, and we ate a great nepalis restaurant.
9th of Sept we arrive in Newcastle to start our Hadrian wall tour while lugging our suitcases (not good planing on my moms part). It was a typical rainy day in the UK but gorgeous non the less. The next day we arrive in the 'Lake District' of England and arguably the most beautiful part of Europe. Green hills with mountains in background dotted with white sheep. Our B&B guy was...interesting. He called us his colonial cousins and was surprised we didn't arrive in a gas guzzling bigger than life car. Later we headed off to where Beatrice Potter lived and the property that inspired her to draw peter rabbit and others.
Next we headed to London. We went to the Tower of London, National Museum (got to see the rosetta stone), china town, had a picnic (loaf of bread, nutella, and bananas...cheap american style) at Trafalgar Square, and my favorite part: the portrait gallery. After a couple days in London we were off to Stonehedge, and then Salisbury to see the cathedral. After the cathedral we ate lunch in a pub that dated back to 1300, and went straight to Bath...the town. The night we got to Bath we got food at a beautiful pub that was once part of a train station. It had great live jazz, and of course my Dad had to eat his dinner quickly so he could move and find a seat close to the band. The next day we toured Bath and of course went to the Roman Baths.
Alright moving forward. After Bath we took a train to Coventry where my mom lived for a year when she was 19. They have a old church that was heavily bombed in WWII and all that is left are the walls, so that was surreal to walk through. After Coventry we went to Stratford-upon-Avon, where Shakespeare and born and lived. We ate dinner at a restaurant dating back the 15th century and has been owned by the same family. We also saw Taming of the Shrew performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
After Stratford we went my Mecca: Liverpool. We went to a Beatles Museum and got some drinks at the Cavern Club (where the Beatles played for 2 years straight 3x a day...and where Across the Universe was shot for the beginning scene where Jude is in Liverpool at the club.) and watched really good Beatle impersonating bands perform.
After Liverpool Rose headed to Aberdeen, Scotland for her school and my parents and I went to Sunderland, England for my school. I got moved in said my goodbyes.
My study abroad experience so far:
-Japanese students are really really generous. If I coughed they would give me a gallon of yogurt. No joke. -I have classes Wed and Thurs and thats it. So there is alot of down time to travel...and drink. -I have seen all the clubs. We went to a foam party, and club that shot popcorn at us all night (it was hilarious to see all the posh girls in heels constantly slip because of all the butter). But overall I love to dance, something I never thought I would say...mostly because here it isn't rap music you grind to, its techno/dance music that you typically dont grind to. -Mostly I have been hanging out with these two great girls from Montana, these two boys from Australia, some Germans and Irish.
-I have been to the E.R. twice since I have been here. It turns out I had bronchitis with slight pneumonia. My second visit it was confirmed that I had pleurisy caused by my infection and torn intercostal muscles from my coughing. So in the end I was taking 6 diff pill....most of them pain killers seeing it hurt to just breath let alone cough...but the worst is laughing and sneezing. Ouch.
-2 weeks ago I started to feel, a little better, my infection was gone and it was just the pain. So I have begun my weekend travels that wont end until I leave. 2 weekends ago I went to Rose's Uni in Aberdeen, Scotland. We went to Cheva Regal Whiskey distillery (with all the heat and my painkillers....i kinda almost fainted, it was embarrassing cause every 5 seconds the guide thought i was going to drop dead) and I had myself some 12 and 21 year old scotch whiskey. And then we went to Inverness which is the city where the lochness monster is. It was a cute town that had a Unicorn statue (Scotland's national animal by the way). -This past week Rose and I went to the south-west coast of Scotland to Ben Nevis (UK's tallest mountain). When we arrived at 11 at night no one was at the desk of the hostel so we camped out on the floor. 3 in the morning we got woken up by 2 drunk guys who happened to be working for the Hostel...they were out that night. They felt terrible and gave Rose and I all the beer we wanted and we stayed up and chatted until 7 in the morning. There were 80 mph winds the next day so we couldn't climb the mountain instead we hiked a gorge where Harry Potter and Braveheart were shot. It was gorgeous. Once again the guys took us out and it turns out that they work 3 months of the year so they can go down to Africa to kayak victoria falls 9 months of the year. Jealous.
-My classes are going great. Life drawing, Art Hist of the 20th cent, and Glass Blowing. Glass Blowing has been amazing, my life dream. -This weekend is Halloween, and we are going out Thurs and Friday. One night I will be the model Twiggy, and the next a 80s aerobic instructor. Got the costumes yesterday! After friday hopefully travel to York, Durham, and Glasgow. -Weekends after that it is: Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin, Venice, back to Liverpool and London. Got all my tickets purchased.
Wow so that was long. But it has been two months.

| I've decided to return to xanga for this coming up fall semester.
I want to document my trip to Western Europe. Starting September 6th myself, Rose, and my parents are going to travel around the UK for two weeks before I start my semester studying glass blowing at University of Sunderland, England and Rose at University of Aberdeen in Scotland.
Every other weekend or so, Rose and I are going to travel to another country in Europe. We haven't finalized where but hope to hit Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Venice, Spain, Morocco, and Munich.
My plan (if I stick to it) is to use xanga as a medium to record my 3 month journey half way across the world.
This will be one of the best things to ever happen to me, and no words can describe how excited I am!
